The last few days have seen a lot of Watchmen developments. The legal case will now be decided by Judge Gary A. Feess on January 20, the Japanese Watchmen Trailer was released and now two new Watchmen marketing goodies have surfaced. The first is a new photo spread in Total Magazine (issue #151), the second is a new viral website, TheNewFrontiersman. Word has also come down via RopeofSilicon that the animated tie-in film Tales of the Black Freighter is being given a R-rating (no sh*t). Continue Reading »

The new season of Damages premiered tonight on the F/X television network. I watched every episode of Damages last season. I’m glad to see the story lines are continuing from last season. Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson) in a hospital, Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne) still in the grips of grief, anger and kanly. Patty Hewes (Glenn Close) always seems to get what she wants one way or the other. I love the part in the first episode (I Lied, Too) of Season Two with the cocaine bust and the aftermath of that. Ip Man Trailer

The Ip Man trailer is pretty impressive. I had no idea Wing Chun was such dominating martial arts style. When Ip Man (Donnie Yen) is punching an attacker in white 30 times in seconds my jaw dropped. This flick reminds me a lot of Fearless. Ip Man was the grand master that trained Bruce Lee and it really shows. Ip Man’s sons plus some of its best practitioners have parts in the flick. The new Japanese Watchmen trailer is pretty badass. We are given a lot more of the non-Watchmen segments and plot points. I like how they expended the Nixon storyline from the comic book as well. There are some spoilers in there as well so beware. Let me know what you think of it below. Continue Reading »

Review: Red Cliff

The first facet of Red Cliff that harbingers the grandeur of the film is the fastidious attention to detail placed on its sets and costume designs. It will remind many of The Last Emperor, The House of the Flying Daggers, Hero, etc. Red Cliff’s drama is steeped in reality and history. Its Red Cliff’s efficient, brutal fights scenes, dipped in what some might call the fantastic, that make the film stand out and push it forward. The battle scenes all have something unique about them that separate them from each other, unlike some of those found in Braveheart.

Red Cliff is set in Xuchang, China, in the summer of AD 208, and derives its plot from the circumstances surrounding the historical Battle of Red Cliffs (Battle of Chibi). Continue Reading »

The U.S. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li poster has been released and its actually not that bad. The background image is lackluster as hell but how they placed the film’s characters inside of it cool. We get to see what Vega’s mask looks like at least. Continue Reading »

Even with a Watchmen legal battle looming, the Warner Bros. marketing machine behind the highly anticpated film continues at full speed. The new featurette that premiered for the Watchmen, hosted by its director Zack Snyder, a few days is quite interesting.
