I've been interviewed over at ZsoltBalla.com.
This interview is the longest one I've done so far. A couple of my shorter interviews are linked from the bottom of the post. There were some great questions and I enjoyed answering them. Thanks to Zsolt Balla for the interview!
I didn't want to force this announcement into a top 10 list over at Top Ten Blog Tips, but I'm also unsure how many people are still subscribed to this blog - so this may or may not work out. We'll see.
The news is that the first phase of CMF Ads has now launched. The whole site has been reorganised, integrated and revamped for 2009. You only need one login ID, and you only need to remember one URL: www.cmfads.com.
You can read about what's changed in the announcement at the CMF forums.
I'm now a member of the CMF team along with Turnip and Stan. I coded the new control panel, installed and set up the new link directory, and I've been working on the advertising services we'll be launching in the second phase.
In other news: I'm not planning to revive my blogging tips at benbarden.com (hence the link to Top Ten Blog Tips), but I may start using this blog to post general news about what I've been working on across the various sites I look after, along with continuing to post updates relating to my music. Perhaps there are a few readers out there who would like to see some new posts, the revival of some older stuff, or maybe something I haven't thought of yet. Let me know if you have any suggestions.
First things first, benbarden.com is now focusing on my music. If you're looking for blogging tips, please check out my new blog and forums. Meanwhile, if you check out the benbarden.com home page, you'll see it shows all of my albums.
I have a lot going on at the moment. I'm arranging to move from Australia back to the UK (yes... really!), and my music projects have been stalled for several months.
Today, I revisited my fifth album and decided to tidy a few things up. I keep changing my mind about how many albums I should be working on at a time, moving from one to two to three, back to one, then back to two.
As I listened through the tracks, I realised that some of them are just not ready yet, and some are not that great. Also, if I try and make my fifth album a "normal" album, somewhere between 50 and 70 minutes in length... it's going to take a while to complete.
To be fair, I finished my third and fourth albums at the start of 2008, so it hasn't been a completely quiet year. That seems so long ago...
Anyway, I've updated several of the tracks, and here's the latest news:
The track list is as follows:
There is some continuity from one track to the next, but the styles vary quite a lot as the album progresses. Having completed two albums that focus heavily on being a single body of music instead of individual pieces of music (despite being separated in small tracks), I felt it was time for a change. That's why this album is quite varied.
Splitting the album is an odd thing to do as I may put both parts on the same CD, but I haven't settled on that yet. I wanted to get some tracks completed and spend less time getting frustrated with the length of time an album takes to put together.
You can hear the entire album here: Landscapes I
The music player at the top is the easiest way to hear the album, but if your connection speed isn't that great, you can download the tracks one by one. Just look for the "download attachment" links on each track.
If you have any feedback please post comments on the tracks. Thanks for listening! Now I just need some album artwork...
I've now updated my fifth album, "Landscapes". It's not finished, but it's getting there.
Here's the current track listing with notes as to what's changed since I last put these tracks online:
1. Blanket of Snow (Minor update)
2. Forgotten Past (A few changes)
3. Silent Shore
4. The Spiral Staircase
5. Sunwatching
6. Deviance
7. Moonsurfing
8. Stepping Stones (Major update)
9. Falling Leaves (New)
10. Invisible in the Shadows (Major update)
11. Pipes of the Hills
12. Listen for the mountains
13. Climbing the Peak (A few changes)
14. Starlining (New)
15. Model Railway (New)
16. The Sounds of Time
Please leave general feedback on this post. If you like some of the tracks please comment on those directly. Thanks for listening!
I've decided to merge all of my current music projects into one album, which is currently called "Landscapes".
This may seem like an odd move based on the projects as they were before:
How do those go together? Well, something like this:
As usual, this is very likely to change, but I think it's going to be easier to get one album finished than to have three in varying stages of completion.
There are new versions of some of the tracks coming soon, and I'll organise the downloads in the correct order soon.
