Broken Beauty

I have nothing against plastic surgery or people who undergo the procedure either for aesthetic reasons or because of an accident or health issues. I just find it rather disturbing when something so natural is made artificial, in this case, our God-given beauty. Like I said, there are reasons why other people resort to this but beauty alone is just not skin deep. See the pictures below which I got from a forwarded email of a friend. Prior to posting this article, I checked the veracity of the article and did have plenty of hits on the subject person.

Han Mi Ok is a Korean celebrity and became known as the Fan Lady after her plastic surgeries' fiasco. She even administered injection at home! Below is how she looked like prior to the operations. I do find her pretty and cannot see why she had to change her looks when she already looked good.

This is her after the quack operations which bad.

This is her "now" after the reconstructive surgeries. She just ruined what God has given her - a beautiful face.

I salute her bravado for showing her face to the public even after the numerous reconstructive operations to salvage whatever is left of her "once pretty" face. I guess it's really true when they say, "when it ain't broken, don't fix it!"

Fashop Quotables: On Shoes

According to Manolo Blahnik:

"About half of my designs are controlled fantasy, 15% are total madness, and the rest are bread-and-butter designs."

Go-Green Shopping

When visiting other countries, try your very best to check out the local markets, small stores and the off-the-beaten-path stores and see their produce, goods and handicrafts as well rather than going to the city malls and department stores. By going to these local markets, you are helping to support the local business.

In with the New & Out with the Old...Not quite!

It's not very likely of me to say this but this coming 2009 will be the most trying time for all of us because of the global economic crisis. The future holds uncertainties to most of us and I don't want to be inconsiderate by splurging what little money I have left. This is the time to tighten our belts more and I will lessen my shopping spree dramatically.

So, let us welcome the year not with a bang but with fervent hope and faith in the Lord that we will all overcome this trial. Let's save what we can. Shop wisely. If it is inevitable to do some shopping because of occasions, then buy what is necessary and what your budget can afford. Drop the notion of everything has to be new in the coming year. It doesn't have to be. We'll all make do of what we have.

Happy New Year everyone. Don't fret. No frowning, just enjoy the simple pleasures of life!

Lucky Brand Sale Loot!

I remember posting tips on how to stretch your cash when shopping due to hard times. I just did that by waiting for the mega sale of Lucky Brand. I bought several shirts, long sleeves and hoodies for myself (as Christmas gifts) and for my husband. We're both big fans of Lucky Brand because their stuff is really durable. I bought a nice crocheted blazer last year and it still looks and feels like it is always new. The merchandise is rather expensive so I always wait for the big sale.

Lucky Brand is an authentic US good. Their theme is mostly inspired by the hippie/rocker image with a flair for vintage. I just love them! Check them out!

Beauty Tip 101 - Protect your skin even on Winter

Using protective skin care is not only apparent on summer. Winter time can spell gust of winds on our faces, and exposure of our outer limbs to the cold elements. Even when it is cold, the sun's heat during winter time can still cause damage. Our skin will need the moisturizer with an SPF as well. Also, don't forget to wear sunglasses when the winter sun is up especially when you are out in the snow because white surroundings can reflect the sun light. Just be safe, wear the necessary protection our body will require.
