Animal Magnetism

January 7th, 2009 · No Comments

Not much going on around here. No major new signings for the Sox so far. And the only thing I have to say about Mark Teixiera letting his wife decide what team he goes to…well, she sounds like a “rhymes with witch” to me, and is probably just out for the most money her husband can earn.  She probably would not fit in with the Red Sox wives, who are very active in charitable activities.  Sounds like she cares more about the glam and glitz of being a Y***** wife.

Whatever. The Sox will be fine with the guys we’ve already got. I hope…

Moving on…today I would like to share something that might be of interest to you…magnetic bracelets. Magnets are said to have healing powers, many claim that wearing magnets helps relieve pain and swelling, increase circulation, and assist in sleep.  When I was given the opportunity to receive one of these bracelets from MagnetJewelryStore.com, and post an honest review of it, I jumped at the chance.  I am not a huge fan of doctors, hospitals, and conventional medicine.  For me, sometimes taking medication for a problem causes side effects that are worse than the problem I took the meds for in the first place!   Not fun!

Anyhoo, this is the bracelet they sent me.  You can learn more about it, and order one of your own, HERE.  This is a style which could be worn by both men and women.  It’s a very nice stainless steel bracelet, and excellent quality for the money.  I am impressed.

As you can see from these next pictures, the magnets are on the inside of the bracelet, and they go all the way around. The little round things you see are the magnets.

Here is a close-up:

And, to show you that it REALLY is magnetic, here it is with a paper clip stuck to it.  Little Mitty here was very fascinated by this bracelet…oh, LOOK!  It’s SHINY!  It took me a few attempts to get this pic, because she wouldn’t stop trying to swat at it!

But I’m sure you want to know the answer to the burning question…do these things WORK?  I’ve only been wearing mine for a few days, but I have noticed that I’ve been sleeping better, and have less pain.

I have been plagued with lower back pain, on the right side, for years…it is not constant, chronic pain, but there are some situations that put my back in some excruciating pain.  One of the worst ones is…get this…washing dishes.

You see, we don’t have a dishwasher, and the kitchen sink in this apartment was designed either for midgets, or under the ASSumption that only women wash dishes, and that all women are short.  Anyhoo, I happen to be 5′ 10″ tall, and having to hunch over the sink to wash dishes makes my lower back muscles scream out in pain.  I wash a few dishes, it starts to hurt, and I have to take a break, stretch out, and take a pain reliever before I can resume this chore.  So it takes a lot longer than it should to wash a sink full of dishes.

I have begged and pleaded with my husband to help me with this, to at least wash any dishes he uses right after he uses them, to lighten my dishwashing load.  I have threatened to donate all of our dishes and silverware to the Salvation Army, and just use paper plates and plastic utensils from now on.  Despite the fact that we now must pay to throw away trash, this still has had no effect.  I wished that the Karma Fairy would come and inflict him with this same back pain for just one hour, so he could feel for himself what it is like for me.  Never happened, though…LOL!

After having worn the bracelet on my left wrist nonstop for a few days, I went and tackled yet another sink full of dishes that he had left piled up for all of last week (he was home on vacation from work between Christmas and New Year’s).

Amazingly, I was able to get through them all without having to take a break!  Was there still any pain?  Yes, but it was a much duller version than usual.  And for once, I didn’t have to take anything for it.

Now, everybody is different, so I can’t claim that you or anyone else will see the same results, as quickly as I did, or even at all.  But I know that I am going to keep wearing this thing, and perhaps order other items from MagnetJewelryStore.com…they have magnetic insoles which may be good for aching feet.

Even if the bracelet doesn’t work for you…hey, you still have a very attractive piece of jewelry, at a good price! :D

Happy New Year!

December 31st, 2008 · Comments Off

Well, it’s cold and snowy here in Boston, and I’m sitting here with a couple of my favorite scented pillar candles, to help warm things up a bit. Not much to talk about today, just a couple of things…

If you are a PawSox fan (and who isn’t?), you may want to go to the 2009 PawSox Hot Stove League Party.  It will be held at McCoy Stadium on Saturday, January 17, from 11AM - 2PM.  PawSox manager Ron Johnson will be there, as well a several of the players.  There will be food, drink, baseball talk, and autograph/photo sessions.  Admission is free, please enter the ballpark through the left field tower entrance.  RSVP not necessary.

Congrats to Jonathan Papelbon and his wife Ashley, on the birth of their baby girl, named Parker Alice.  She was supposed to be a New Year’s baby, but decided to make her appearance a few days early.

Here’s wishing you all a safe, happy and prosperous New Year. And may the Good Guys win it all this year! :D

The Pats are all done

December 28th, 2008 · Comments Off

Mike and I went out to TGI Friday’s to have lunch today; we sat at the bar, as usual.  We like this particular Friday’s location, because it has a huge bar area, and many TVs, great for any and all sports watching.  We also like the food…a lot of it is fried and fatty, but they also have many healthy grilling options, as well.  And some good brews on tap, as well!

The Patriots game was on, of course, and we hung around to watch it.  We were thrilled that they won, and hoped that the evil Jets would win later on.  Yep, we had to root for the Jets, which is right up there with Sox fans rooting for the Y*****s.

We didn’t hang around for the Jets/Dolphins game, we had other things to do and we needed to get home.  But sadly, the Dolphins won, and so did the Ravens in their game against the Jaguars.  Which means that the Pats are all done for the year…no playoffs for them.

They gave it a good run, though.  With Tom Brady being out, that had to have hurt the most.  But Matt Cassel did a great job, though, he stepped up to a huge challenge and gave it his best.

Oh well.  There’s always next year.

Will Jim Rice FINALLY get his place in the Hall of Fame?

December 28th, 2008 · Comments Off

Hall of Famer and former Sox teammate Dennis Eckersley thinks so

I think the Jim Rice debate is finally over. He gets in this time. He’s gained a lot of votes over the years and he’s been so close, that this year he should get over the top. It’s hard for me to believe that it took 15 years on the ballot, because ask any of us who played with him and against him - he had that 10-year period where he was absolutely the most feared hitter there was. Jimmy deserves his due finally and he’ll get it.

I think he has a good shot at getting in this time, as well.  It’s time, already!

The votes are due in by Wednesday, says Eck.  Not sure when the Class of 2009 inductees will be announced.  But I swear, if Jim Rice is not one of them this year, I will throw something at the tv, and probably knock it right off the tv stand.

Which would not be a good thing, because I can’t afford a new tv at the moment!

Day 23 - The 23 Days of Christmas

December 24th, 2008 · Comments Off

Well, it’s Christmas Eve, and the final day of my little holiday song project.  And it’s not so merry, though, for Red Sox fans who were hoping that Mark Teixiera would be joining us next season.  Sadly, he ended up signing with the Y*****s.

This pisses me off, but not as much as not getting C.C. Sabathia.

Anyhoo, in (dis)honor of all of this, I give you I’m Getting Nuttin’ For Christmas…the funny version done by Stan Freberg.  Right-click and save, please!

I will be putting a song today on each of the blogs in My Vast Blog Empire, so be sure to look for them throughout the day.  Also, I will be posting a complete list of where all 23 Days songs are sometime, somewhere today.

Merry Christmas anyway!
